Shortly after, Strange joined several superheroes in battle against the powerful mutate Sundown . Strange and the New Avengers joined forces to combat the Hood and Dormammu. Then Doctor Strange rejoined the New Avengers. In this reality, Doctor Strange is still the master of the mystic arts and is the rival of Baron Mordo.
Weeks later, Strange returned to action when Baron Mordo tried to kill him. Strange studied magic under the Ancient One for seven years and returned to the United States in the 1970s.
